It is now confirmed that the final version of Ubuntu 10.10 will be launched on Sunday 10 October. Several components will be upgraded and updated in Ubuntu 10.10. GNOME desktop environment has been updated to version 2.32, and Evolution (e-mail and calendar) has been updated to version 2.30. Shotwell has replaced the F-Spot photo organizer by default, and the sound system Sound Indicator has been expanded.
Feature Ubuntu Software Centre has been upgraded with the possibility of downloading and purchasing software. It should now be able to compete with, among other things, the App Store from Apple and Android Market from Google. It may also be mentioned that the "Unity" interface is now used as default in Ubuntu Netbook Edition.
