The technology for editing video are increasingly longer, and the U.S. company Morphsuite has showcased some of the more impressive i have seen.
New software called MovieReshape allows everyone look like a bodybuilder on video. The software can blow up or decrease the muscles just from a single video clip. The program can also make you a higher or lower, or adjust the type or the size of the waist.
The technique can save large amounts of actors for work. Just think of Christopher Bales anorexic role in "The Machinist" or Renee Zellwegger who had put on 25 kg h il "Bridget Jones' Diary". And not least poor Baasmo Anders Christiansen who gained 14 kg of "Fatso" just to be told that the movie plans were dropped.
How it is done
behind the impressive trick film is a painstaking effort to identify and calculate the human anatomy. The software analyzes the film clip to build a 3D model of the characters in the film clip. When the analysis is over, you can blow up and reduce the percentage of muscle volume in the legs, arms and chest, as well as height and length of each limb. There was hardly any difference in how the test groups perceived the original and the mofiserte video, suggesting that the is difficult to see that the clip is edited, reports Morphsuite in his report.
Launching in December,
some weaknesses, however MovieReshape. Among other things, requires a clear basis for the algorithm to function flawlessly. There are also limits to how much muscle mass and tension can be put in before the clip looks artificial. The software is still under development and will be launched at Siggraph Asia in December, reports New Scientist.
This will open the doors for slender guys in action the main roles, and fall again tease actors can be blown up to its old highs. Or maybe it's old family footage that needs a little makeover?
Then the question comes, have it gone to far? if we can get get Tom Cruise to look like Superman in a Bay-watch scene with some editing, or get Pamela Anderson to look like a body builder with 5min of editing for a whole movie without having to exercise at all.
Guess the sky is the limit with more and more 3d animated movies coming out with huge success and movie star`s not having to keep fit any more, i at least feel we can loose some of the old good days with actor`s having to exercise or put on weight to get a movie role and being able to watch the transition in the media
what do you think?
