Intel's new SSDs

0

To replace your old hard disk with a SSD (memory disk) is perhaps the single best upgrade you can give a little tired computer. A good SSD will be able to provide faster startup, less noise and heat and better performance in several applications.
The disadvantage of these memory disks is that they have little capacity and high prices. But this will soon change.
Third-generation X25-M Intel is known for putting together some of the best one on the SSD market, and for consumers is the model X25-M will apply. Earlier this year we took a look at the second-generation edition of 80 GB, which then cost about 1900 crowns.

Now, the specifications of next generation X25-M have been known, and we now have more room to move us on. In addition to the current sizes of 80 and 160 GB models, we also get the 300 and 600 GB

Other good news with 3 generation of SSDs is that they are also faster, has better life and are safer. The only drawback we see is that they also have a higher power, especially when they work.

The prices are not known, but what is certain is that the coming generation will use a flash which is produced in 25 nanometer (nm, 1 nm is 1 billionth of a meter) production, compared with 32 nm of 2 generation of X25-M. According to AnandTech, this will give us double the capacity on the same physical space, and that it is almost equivalent to a halving of flash memory prices.

But if we can find that SSD suddenly goes to "half price" is another question. Known factors like supply and demand makes the market that will do little as it wants. But you will get more SSD for less money, there is no doubt about that.

Just when we see the new memory disks in the store is a bit uncertain, but according to plan they should at least be on markdedet during the first quarter of 2011.
